Clutch Pedal Upgrade & Clutch Linkage Kit

Clutch Pedal Shaft Upgrade 1. Remove clutch pedal from car, remove all brackets 2. Grind off welded end of shaft flush with pedal and knock out with a punch 3. Put new shaft in slotted hole in pedal and weld in place, checking for squareness with pedal 4. Reinstall with new plastic bushings supplied 5. Install splined arm with splines outboard off splined shaft. You may need to trim up to off inside of splined collar for alignment of clutch rod Clutch Linkage Kit 1. Frame bracket must be welded in stock position on frame rail for correct geometry with pedal linkage, even if engine is moved forward see sketch 2. Mock-up cross shaft with bell housing pivot bar bracket. You may have to re-drill holes/slot to position cross shaft as square as possible in chassis. You will have to relocate/re-drill holes if using forward mounts 3. Depending on the clearance distance between the pivot brackets and cross shaft, the pivot bar bracket on the bell housing may need to be shimmed or an offset bend in it to achieve the correct clearances. The (2) felt washers provided should be installed also, during this process 4. The upper clutch rod from pedal should be set at 15 3/8 between the heim join center lines to start 5. With clutch pedal in relaxed up position against rubber stop (supplied) slide splined pivot arm on clutch pedal splined shaft so the clutch pedal rubber pad is approximately the same height as the brake pedal 6. Mock-up upper clutch rod with (2) 3/8 bolts and nylock nuts so bolt clears exhaust, etc. During its travel at bottom and doesnt interfere with brake pedal and other components under the dash 7. With pedal, upper rod and clutch cross shaft adjusted in correct position, install lower clutch linkage from cross shaft to clutch fork. There should be about play with pushing pedal to prevent drag on throw out bearing. The clevis pin drops in from the top into clutch fork cotter pin when adjustment finished. You may need to shorten excess amount of linkage rod if possible or necessary to clear exhaust system. 8. Final assembly: Lube cross shaft pivot ball and felt washers with bearing grease. Cross shaft should pivot freely on pivot balls without dragging on pivot brackets. 9. Tighten all hardware, check clearances again before road test. www.williamsclassicchassis.com
