Rotten oranges Mouldy rice

MICROORGANISMS
LIVING THINGS
breathe

move - Move in their own ways, depend on where they live. -The movement can be seen by using a microscope.

grow - Grow very fast in the suitable condition such as moist, warm and airy environment. - Example, moulds grows in a moist, warm and airy condition.

- As a human and animal, microorganisms also can breathe.

- example, a dough will expand when its added with yeast.

1.1 Understanding that some microorganism are harmful and some are useful

Some Organisms Are Harmful And Some Are Useful Useful

-Making food (bread / tapai / tempe / yogurt) -Making fertilizer -Making medicine

Harmful

Prevention
Washing hand

Can cause

Disease
Stomach upset Measles/cough

Drink boiled water Covering mouth & nose when coughing & sneezing

Illness

Food poisoning Food stale

Tooth decay Tooth decay Conjunctivitis/mumps

HARMFUL EFFECTS OF MICROORGANISMS

Can cause : Include certain bacteria, virus, fungi and protozoa Tooth decay food in our mouth encourages the growth of bacteria.

Food poisoning eating food that infected by harmful microbes.

Food turn bad such as bacteria and fungi in the air and landed in our food.

Illness caused of all microorganisms

DISEASES CAUSED BY MICROORGANISMS

Microorganisms Diseases Cholera Bacteria Conjunctivitis Mumps Scabies Aids Flu Virus Cough Measles Chicken pox Microorganisms Fungi Protozoa Diseases Ringworm Tinea Malaria

THE WAY THE DISEASES SPREAD

AIR DIRECT CONTACT FOOD OR WATER

By droplet of water from infected person when they sneezing or coughing. Example of diseases : flu, mumps, cough

By contact with the infected person such as shaking hands and sharing towels. Example of diseases : measles, ringworm and tinea.

By eating contaminated food or drinking contaminated water. Example of diseases : cholera, stomach upset, food poisoning.

PREVENTION OF DISEASES FROM SPREADING

Covering Wounds - To avoid infection Boiling Water - Before drinking

Washing Hands -Before handling food -Before and after eating -After playing -After using toilet

Covering Mouth And Nose - When coughing or sneezing

Quarantine -Keeping patients who has chicken pox, conjunctivitis or mumps.
