Guidelines for revision
• Use the lecture slides as your
guide.
• Translates into - use those slides
as a guide for revising the text and
readings.
• Find your own examples to
illustrate the points being made.
• Use diagrams to support your
argument (where appropriate).

• In two parts
– Part A: Compulsory case study with
supporting questions
– Part B: Essay questions section
• Five questions of which you MUST
ANSWER THREE
– 3 hours plus 15 minutes reading
time
• Exam hints
• You will be expected to know the topic
in depth.
• Answer all parts of the question.
• Pay attention to directive words (key
words in the questions) – e.g. describe,
compare.

Sample essay questions (not
on the exam)
• What are the strengths and weaknesses
of interviewing as a research method?
• Define what is meant by qualitative
analysis and what is meant by
quantitative analysis. Outline any
similarities and differences between them
and use examples of research projects to
illustrate how analysis could take place
using the two approaches.
