Rebus Masters

In teaching, I believe that it is very important to have enrichment activities available for students who finish work early. Both to accommodate gifted students as well as to provide educational activities for those students desiring a challenge or more work, I created an optional Rebus Masters Competition for students. If finished early with independent work, student could take a worksheet of rebus puzzles to work on. When finished, students put their puzzles in a folder marked Finished Puzzles. I would then take the puzzles out of this folder throughout the day and check them. If students completed the puzzles correctly, they were given tickets as a reward and their names were put up as Rebus Masters. Puzzles that needed fixed were placed in the said folder for students to pick up and correct at their leisure. Not only does this activity demonstrate my effective use of time by establishing something for students to do if and when they finish early, but it also demonstrates my ability to provide enrichment for those students needing a challenge.
