Rules of hygiene in the ICU : implementation

admitted to the ICU as a critical ill patient, they got many invasive procedures and treatment. Prevention for HAIs is very important to prevent the patient become worse and die quickly or prolongation duration of illness. Properly implementation the rules of hygiene is a strategy for prevention HAIs in the ICU. There are several points must be considered for prevention HAIs in the ICU : good complience of health care workers (HCWs) in practice of standard precautions or isolation precautions, improve and maintain patients in better health status, visitors know and do the rules of standard precautions and isolation precautions and maintain the ICU environment safely for HCWs, patients and visitors. In addition, colonization of patients with the multiresistant micro-organism was predominantly localized to the ICU. To prevent spread of the epidemic strain the multi-resistant micro-organism strict hygienic measures were enforced, e.g. scrupulous cleaning of the room after discharge of any colonized patient, increased attention to the hand hygiene of the medical and nursing staff and improve antibiotic-use policy. Futhermore, education and promotion of good infection control practices in the ICU become critically important.
