Athens
This government was a direct democracy. Only men who were citizens were allowed to vote. Women, children, slaves, resident aliens not were allowed to vote. People were expected to take part in the government. The government allowed its people to come and go as they pleased.

Sparta Sparta was a monarchy, they had two kings, one who would stay home and the other one would go out to fight the battles. The government made all the decisions. The government decides whether or not a newborn baby lives. The government did not allow its people to leave the city state and did not allow foreigners to enter.

Athens
Women and men were allowed to pick their profession Education was common in this city-state. Unlike Sparta, young boys were not forced to train for the military.

Sparta
Men were to be a part of the Spartan Army. Boys were sent to train for war at the age of seven. Women stayed home to watch over the farms and children. Education was not common.

School

Spartas main concern was to train and prepare for battle. They were considered to be the best warriors, and had the best reputation. They went so far as to have strong women marry fast men, in order to breed sons for war. These newborns were inspected and if there was any imperfection the baby would be thrown off a cliff. Those who had slaves put them to work on the farm so that men and boys could concentrate on their army.

Religion was overall the same all throughout Greece. They believed in a religion named Animistic. This religion is based on the belief of spirits, and that they are able to depart from the body. They also believe that the world and all natural matter have their own spirits, souls and conscious.
