MEDIA RELEASE

QPrime riddled with flaws as police battle with system

National industry body, Outsourcing Council Asia Pacific (OCAP), representing a broad based membership in the ICT sector has revealed the latest in a long line of Queensland Government ICT disasters, with the Queensland Governments QPrime system used by the Queensland Police Service (QPS) labeled hopelessly flawed and impeding front line officers ability to do their jobs properly. OCAP Chairman, Bruce Mills, said that front line operational police officers and ICT consultants with government were raising repeated concerns with the data that had been originally fed into the system with a backlog of errors occurring as result of a flawed data migration process and is now costing officers hours per day. This flawed system, which replaced 234 previous other ICT systems, has been in a hopeless state of affairs from day one with the original data migration proven to be a failed process, Mr Mills said. Any basic computer user will know that garbage in results in garbage out. The very real concern now is that front line officers have to spend hours every day correcting this garbage of a system which is showing up continual errors. The longer Premier Anna Bligh leaves her incompetent ICT Minister, Simon Finn, in the portfolio the more we will see the ICT systems of the Queensland Government crash and burn into these sorts of debacles. The Premier must show some leadership and stand down this Minister, Mr Mills said. ENDS Contact: OCAP Chairman, Bruce Mills 0433 112 367
