RE: MOTION, Item 7 TECHNICAL REVIEW OF THE RESIDENTIAL PARKING STANDARD FOR WARD 6 WHEREAS there are concerns in Stittsville with respect to parking shortage especially in increased density developments; AND WHEREAS Stittsville had a temporary zoning provision requiring two parking spaces, in tandem, for detached, semi-detached and multiple attached properties with a front or corner side yard setback of three metres or less; AND WHEREAS in the technical review staff acknowledge there are challenges with increased density development in suburban areas; AND WHEREAS despite the current and planned transit increases, Stittsville continues to remain heavily car-dependant; AND WHEREAS this matter must be addressed promptly as the Ward will continue to experience increased density developments; AND WHEREAS staff recommends further review by the Intensification Implementation Working Group; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Intensification Implementation Working Group provide a report with recommendations for a new policy to be enacted for the suburban subdivision standards to Planning Committee by December 2012. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT Planning Committee instruct staff to come back on March 13, 2012 with a temporary zoning by-law amendment to reinstate a requirement in Stittsville for two parking spaces for detached, semi-detached and multiple attached properties with a front or corner side yard setback of three metres or less, to be in effect until December 31, 2012.
