Shot types are ways of classifying the different ways of capturing specific views of things.

All shot types are used in different aspects of media such as print adverts, and films. The various shot types include CLOSE UP, MEDIUM CLOSE SHOT, MEDIUM SHOT, LONG SHOT, WIDE SHOT & EXTREMELY WIDE SHOT.
This is a shot which the frame of the shot fully captures the subject of the photo. In this close up of Lebron James, his face, the subject is fully captured in the frame of the shot. Close ups are usually take from close range In this shot Dwayne Wade is captured from medium distance. This shot shows more detail that a close up. In medium shots the subject of the shot is covered as well as the surrounding.
This is a shot somewhere in between a close up and a medium shot. It is taken from a range further than close ups and closer than medium shots. The frame of the shot captures the subject (Jason Terry) of the photo as well as some elements of the background

MEDIUM SHOT

MEDIUM-CLOSE SHOT

LONG SHOT

A long shot covers the whole subject of the photo. Long shots show the entire subject (Shaquille ONeal) of the shot as well as the elements of the background of the shot.

WIDE SHOT

In wide shots the elements of the surrounding are shown and the frame covers up the entire subject of the shot.

EXTREMELY WIDE SHOT

This is a shot in which the view is so far from the subject of the shot that the subject may not be visible
