Sermon Outline A little man Meets a BIG GOD Luke 19: 1-10 I can vividly remember my time as a child

in SabbathOh what fun it wasthe stories, the action songsone such song that I remember which happens to be one of my favorite songs and one which I still remember is about that one wee little man who meets JesusZacchaeus. (Sing the songZacchaeus was a wee little man). Jesus was coming to the City of Jericho, and every one, meaning everyone wanted to see him, even more because of the miracle Jesus had performed at the city gatethe healing of the blind man (Lk 18:35-43). Everyone wanted a piece of the miracleeven the hated tax collectors. A. The searching sinner (vv. 1-4) Story: the rich young ruler-wealth does not make one content and find fulfillment in life. Like the rich young ruler, Zacchaeus also felt that emptiness in his life. He too was also searching. Zacchaeus was not only short physically but also spiritually. In Jesus we find fulfillment. B. The seeking savior (v. 5) Jesus delights in spending time with his creation (Jn 1:1-3, 14; 3:16). He wants to develop a personal relationship in the garden of Eden- in the cool of the day God would spend time with Adam and Eve (Gen 3:8). Even he is ready and wanting a relationship (Rev 3:20). C. The spectacular salvation (vv. 6-10) v. 7 No matter how great a sinner you may think you are or even what others think of you Jesus still loves you and has laid his life for you. Illustration: Saul the Persecutor of Christians to Paul the Evangelist to the Gentiles. v. 8 As Zacchaeus neared Jesus he saw His glory and realized his majesty-Zacchaeus was convicted of his unrighteous ways and sought forgiveness. A relationship with God brought Zacchaeus to his knees and transformation to his life. Story: Muslim Woman with Cancer and her Daughter. v.9 &10 Not only was Jesus concerned about Zacchaeus but also for the salvation of his household. The mission of Jesus is very clear: He came to seek and save what was lost. Friends, do you feel like Zacchaeus today? Zacchaeus was locked into a way of life that was pretty comfortable and yet Jesus changed him. And he can do the same for you and me.
