YOU’RE A VIP TO GOD!

( THE FAITH OF ZACCHAEUS

& GRACE OF GOD)

BY: SIS. TRIXIE NELMIDA

Have you ever been treated
special? Like a VIP?
LUKE 19:1-10
(NLT)
Jesus entered Jericho and made his way through the
town. 2 There was a man there named Zacchaeus. He was
the chief tax collector in the region, and he had become
very rich. 3 He tried to get a look at Jesus, but he was too
short to see over the crowd. 4 So he ran ahead and
climbed a sycamore-fig tree beside the road, for Jesus
was going to pass that way.
LUKE 19:5-7
5
When Jesus came by, he looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by
name. “Zacchaeus!” he said. “Quick, come down! I must be a guest
in your home today.” Zacchaeus quickly climbed down and took

Jesus to his house in great excitement and joy. 7 But the people were
displeased. “He has gone to be the guest of a notorious sinner,” they
grumbled.
LUKE 19:8-10

Meanwhile, Zacchaeus stood before the Lord and
said, “I will give half my wealth to the poor, Lord, and
if I have cheated people on their taxes, I will give
them back four times as much!”

Jesus responded, “Salvation has come to this home
today, for this man has shown himself to be a true
son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man[a] came to seek
and save those who are lost.”
Zacchaeus
He was a tax collector and wealthy
(v.2)
But He doesn’t think that he is
special. That He is attractive.
• “He sees me.” - ( v.5) Jesus looked up into the
tree.

• > There is might be a lot of people better than

Zaccheus, but Jesus knows His purpose. He knows
who He is after to and who He is looking for.
• “He knows me.” - (v. 5) He called Zacchaeus by
name.

> The Lord knows you by your name. He does not

know you by your sins, by your imperfections or by
negative impression.
“He wants me.” - (v. 5/9) Jesus asked to
go to his house.
> Jesus had the mission, to share the salvation.
No matter how many people are there in the
crowd, because of Zaccheus’ eagerness to see
Jesus and know him, Jesus felt it.
The Faith of Zacchaeus
I. HE HAD AN INTELLIGENT
FAITH.
 Zacchaeus wanted the truth about this man Jesus.
 It’s not enough for you to have a passing relationship with
Jesus; you need to see who Jesus Christ really is.
II. HE HAD AN
EXPERIENTAL FAITH.
 Being a Christian is not just intellectually believing things about the Lord; it is
receiving the Lord.
 You are not saved by the plan of salvation; and His name is Jesus.
 Zacchaeus knew more than facts about Jesus,
Jesus went home with him.
III. HE HAD A
TRANSFORMING FAITH.
 When a man like Zacchaeus starts talking about giving away his money. (verse
8), perk up your ears because something has happened!
 This doesn’t sound like Zacchaeus; it sounds like Jesus,
His life was changed.
 No longer was Zacchaeus a money, grabbling,
penny pinching, dishonest.
The Grace of God
He has been transformed by the grace of God. Do you know the grace of God?
> SAVING GRACE - Zacchaeus was saved not from hell; he was saved from his sin. The
bible says in Matthew 1:21 “…”…thou shalt call the righteous, but sinners to
repentance.”
> SUSTAINING GRACE - Jesus went home with Zaccheus. This is an illustrative that
Jesus abides in our hearts.
> SURVIVING GRACE - Jesus is able to keep Zaccheus.
The Grace of God
He has been transformed by the grace of God. Do you know the grace of God?
2. Sustaining grace. The scripture says that Jesus went home with Zacchaeus. That is
illustrative of the fact that Jesus Christ abides within our hearts.
3. Surviving grace. Jesus is able to keep Zacchaeus, and we will someday see him in
heaven.
DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU
ARE IMPORTANT TO GOD?

will save you, abide you, and keep youfor
eternity.

God, one of these days, the Devil will be
after you, and you’re going to find
yourself away, far from God - lost,
forever lost.
.

knows you and wants you. You don’t have
to stay out on a limb without him. The
