I thank Dr. Holstein for his very careful analysis of my paper. I am in complete agreement with the substance of his remarks. However, I would like to take the opportunity to comment on each of them. 1. The overloading of the symbol R. I was aware of the resulting change in the value of A, but decided to suppress it to simplify the notation slightly. This may have been poor judgement, but I thought it unlikely that anyone seriously interested in the derivation would be confused. 2. The omission of subscripts from R in the final expression. This was a typographical error; it was my intention to use Rij throughout. 3. The blow-up rate of the numerical expression. My statement was based on a naive power-counting analysis; Dr. Holstein is quite correct that it underestimates the rate of divergence. 4. The statement about the behavior of the anomaly on the surface of the polyhedron. This was an egregious error for which I have already published an erratum (Geophysics, 64, 992). I again thank Dr. Holstein for his interest and careful critique. R. O. Hansen Pearson, deRidder and Johnson, Inc. 12640 W. Cedar Drive, Suite 100 Lakewood, CO 80228 email: rohansen@prj.com
