_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Objective

To design and prototype a system for holding and categorizing the
visible spectrum of ThorLabs Light Emitting Diodes (LEDS) for use
in LED televisions. Additionally to provide data that can be
compared to current color spectrums of LCD and CRT televisions.

User Needs

1) Develop a sample holder capable of holding three LEDS
2) D= 0.23 and length 0.35 inches
3) Provide a sample cycle of < 5 seconds per measurement
taken
4) Provide a Repeatability +0.04 -0.04, Reproducibility
+0.1 - 0.1, 95% confidence interval
5) Provide an operation time of 1-5 Hours of continuous use
6) Cost < $500

Final LMS Prototype
4 ` Long, 4 ` Wide (base), 2 ` Wide (neck), 2.75 ` Tall
Benefits of Product

Provide a comparison of common LED wavelengths and
intensity vs. CRT and LCD displays for use in human
perception analysis.
Display LED Color categorization data for use in quality
control environments.

Challenges

Failure of one of the ABS polymer legs. (It is recommended
to cast the final product completely out of A356)
