    To All Circles / Branches NEW SYMBOL FOR INDIAN RUPEE PROPAGATING AND POPULARIZING We have been advised by Indian Banks Association vide their letter No. PS&IT/CIR/26/1074 dated 17.08.2010 (copy enclosed), that they had received a communication from Ministry of Finance, Department of Financial Services, informing that Government of India has approved the symbol for the Indian Rupee as depicted below:-
