1. INTRODUCTION
Water is an ultimate resource of nature. And it can be made to serve various functions Properly planned use of water may nourish our farms and forests, may run our turbines for generation of hydroelectric power, amy help in beautifying our surroundings and environments. And fulfillings the basic necessities of life, properly harnessed and developed water can unable us to lead a luxurous life. India is one the developing countries. Due to faster industrialization and Urbanization increase in population water demand is increasing day by day. As water being a limited resource, its effiecient use is basic to the survival of the ever increasing population of world. To meet the growing water supply demand, we are depending maximum on surface water, which is stored in the form of lakes and reservoirs. Availability and storage of water depends ultimately on yearly rainfall. In most part of the country annual rainfall is varies from 10 to 45. As soon as rainfall is over water scarcity is starts. Rain water harvesting can be done at individual household level and at community level in both Urban as well as rural areas. At household level, harvesting can be done through roof catchments, and at community level through ground catchments. Depending on the quantity, location and intended use, harvested rain water, it can be utilized immediately or after storage. RWH has gain tremendeous interest among academicians, institutions and layman in past few years. Roof top harvesting has a clearer defination as water collected from roof top chiefly for domestic

consumption. Rain Water Harvesting is a low cost solution to solve water crises.
