As part of the Ugadi Celebrations, the Balaji Temple will hold an essay competition for our young devotees. Essay prompts for the different ages groups are as follows: Ages 7 to 10, 1 - 2 pages, submitted in the students own handwriting: 1. Who is your favorite god? Explain why. 2. Do you enjoy coming to the temple? Why or why not? Ages 11 to 14; essay will be limited to two pages (single spaced, typed): 1. Has being a Hindu ever been an issue between you or your friends? What did you tell them? Do you feel that they accept and respect your belief? 2. Who is your favorite Indian role model (or historical person) and what influence(s) do they have on you? Ages 15 and above; 3 pages (single spaced typed): 1. Has science enhanced or dampened spirituality in humans? 2. How can schools in the USA improve on religious awareness of different cultures? Alternative Prompt for All Age Group: 1. Why do you attend youth classes? Explain and be specific!
