SAPlpd is used for frontend printing access method F AND server printing access methods S and U. It is installed on the server AND the frontends. SAPlpd is replaced by SAPSprint and SAPFprint
Now separation: SAPSprint is for server printing and SAPFprint for frontend printing. SAPSprint should only be installed on the server and SAPFprint on all Windows frontends.

SAPFprint Details (1) SAPFprint (SAP Frontend print with control technology) will replace front-end printing with access method F. It offers the following advantages:
Simplified configuration and more stable execution, especially when printing using Windows Terminal Server. Front-end printing is possible for non-Windows platforms with SAP GUI for Java. Printer selection no longer displayed in SAP system. Microsoft Windows printer selection window is now called directly from the control; no printer name length restriction anymore:
SAPFprint Details (3) SAPFprint is available as of SAP Basis 4.6C. For releases lower than SAP NetWeaver 7.0 you have to install:
