the technique of Horizontal Directional Boring

Horizontal Directional Boring is often the best solution whenever the surface is highly impractical for trenching or excavating. The drilling process is the same for any pipe material be it PVC, polythene, steel etc. The industrial standard practice for inserting the pipe is to use a bore hole that is 1.5 times the pipe diameter. It is also important to limit the radius of curvature for the bore hole to half of the joint s deflection capability. Polymer addictives should be added as appropriate for the soil conditions. Pipe assemble is quite easy and it should be followed as mentioned in the respective pipe manual. The gasket has to be installed properly to prevent leaks and lubrication at the joints is important. After the piping is made ready, the entrance pit is drilled and widened with the help of a cutting tool called the back reamer. In this hole, the casing pipe is placed centrally. And then a viscous liquid, called the drilling fluid is passed through this pipe to aid the removal of cuttings, and lubricate the passage.
