Attention: Yam CONFIDENTIAL IDF- Israel Defense Forces; Conditioned Service Department RE: Lior Ceren Katz; T.Z.

303421655 DOB: 21/09/1993 JAN. 31, 2012 Dear IDF: I am Lior Katz' father (T.Z. 31703582 2) and I live in Lod, Israel at present. I have become very ill with kidney cancer and prostate cancer. Please see attached medical records. I am unable to go to help my 90 year old mother (Selma Simcha Katz; March 7>90y.o.). She delayed her Florida move (for 2+ weeks) until after some emergency tests, etc. I am unable to work, also. Lior has been in the USA since October 30. Lior has always welcomed her IDF service and has prepared well and seriously. However, due to her grandmother's deterioration with blood cancer (Leukemia; I will include a letter from her Oncologist/Blood Cancer Doctor), Lior feels a very profound conflict: to delay her induction from February until later 2012 or to leave her ailing grandmother. Lior has no intention of avoiding her service commitment. She loves and needs to help her Gramma. She WILL be going into the IDF. Her brother, Mataan, proudly serves now in the Golani Brigade. IDF has been very helpful in allowing him to take me to Asaf Harofe for my cancer surgeries and biopsies (May; Aug. 16 for major Thoracic Chest biopsy (>Sarcoidosis; Enlarged Lymph Nodes, not Lymphoma); October 10 (Partial Nephrectomy for left kidney cancer tumor); Oct.28 for 12-sample Prostate Biopsy- Cancer found; Jan. 26 Prostate surgery- end of 9 full months of catheter- Pathology Report in 2 weeks.) I am very ill, but stabilized, and I respect Lior's request (she became 18, an adult, only a few months ago), as she has always been a loyal Israeli, as we arrived here in Israel in June of 1996, less than 3 months before her 3rd birthday. She feels Israeli, although she is, technically, a dual citizen, since she was born in Boston, Mass. She is very close to her Grandmother. I support Lior's request. Please call me at 050-227 8986 OR 054-582 1523 if I can answer any further questions. Respectfully submitted, Gary M. Katz, Ph.D.; 46/12 Shlomo Hamelech, Lod, Israel.
