Barbados leads the Caribbean ranking 38th in the Network Readiness Index in the Global Information Technology Report 2010-2011, and 42nd in the Global Competitiveness Report 2010 -2011. However, it, like many other Caribbean and Latin American countries, has been said to be lagging behind global benchmarks in terms of penetration and adoption of technology. Barbados growth as a services economy will hinge on how best it can position itself to engage with the third of the worlds seven billion citizens who are online. Join the Barbados International Business Association and the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry as we host Ms. Medford as she discusses how ICT can be leveraged to assist in transforming the Barbados economy to make it more competitive. Ms. Glenda Medford Attorney-at-law & Telecoms Policy Specialist Ms. Glenda Medford is a leading telecommunications policy specialist having worked in the industry for over 20 years. She is an attorney-at-law who has developed a wealth of experience over 26 years, first in private practice and then as in house counsel. Ms. Medford is immediate Past President of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where she served from 2008 to 2010. She is a former director of CANTO (Caribbean Association of National Telecommunications Organisations) the leading regional telecommunications organization and has made several presentations about telecommunications policy at regional and international conferences.
