Armbustcr's sound system will be used with Jim Raupach and John Ankeney alternating at the "mike." This race is the only one which the local club will sponsor this year. Raupach said that the club intends to hold future races at Mexico Farms if the track and crowds justify doing so. He added that the club also plans to hold midget auto races here.

LINCOLN, Nebr., July 5, (/P) Unheralded Steve Seymour, 26year-old Los Angeles osteopath, threw the javelin 248 feet 10 inches for a new American record as the country's finest cinder stars leveled a strong assault at toe record books in the National AATJ Track and Field championships here today. Seymour's record, which bettered the old American and Olympic marks by ten feet 3 inches, was one of three new marks established in senior competition today which showed greatly improved performance in practically every event over the meet n year ago. An estimated 15,000 fans who braved humid, 90 degree weather, cheered Texas sprint stars, who had failed to make the grade in individual events, to a pair of relay records. Tcxana Arthur Harndon, Don Sparks, A. Small and Jerry Thompson, representing the San Antonio AO, whittled 3.4 seconds off the American and AATJ 2,900-meter medley relay record as they traveled the distance in 7:04.3. The old record was 7:07.7 set by the San Francisco Olympic Club in 1841. The San Antonio AC 400-meter relay team of Texas University's Perry Samuels, Allen La/wler and Charley Parker and Bill Martlenson of Baylor was clocked in 40.9 seconds, one tenth of a second under the AAU record established by the New York AC in 193B. Harrison Dillard, the nation's great hurdles star from BaldwinWallace College, was ths only double winner of the day, Dillard equalled his own AAU 200-meter hurdles record of 23.3 seconds made at San Antonio, Texas, last year, and won the 110-meter highs in 14 seconds flat, two-tenths better than his winning time a year ago.

The Frunki'ort District Softball League has a lone game scheduled lor today, Western Maryland playing at Short Gap. Should Short Gap win, it will move a half game ahead I of the runnersup Bidgeley Legion. Last Wednesday a new loop rec-j ord for the season in extra inning | g'ames was set when Short Gap and; the Independents battled to a 7-71 draw in a game called at the end of i 14 frames becausis of darkness. : The schedule for this week fol-1 lows:Monday Independents vs. Jjegion (Bidgeley High field).
