MEDICAL AND HEALTH STANDARD Promoting employees health and safety are usually under the jurisdiction of the

human resource department and considered an HR function. But regardless of how the responsibility is assigned, every organization is required by law to safeguard the workers social and economic well being as well as his physical safety and health as provided in the Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHAS) of the Department of Labor and Employment. The Labor Code of the Philippines requires all employees to provide first aid facilities for its employees. To add,leaders in the industry have come to realize the extreme cost of industrial accidents whether measured in medical expenses, disability compensation, lost production and wages, or damage to plant and equipment. The cost of death and suffering is beyond calculaton. As much as possible, employers would like to maintain healthy employees so that these employees can work more efficiently and effectively for the attainment of the companys goals and objective.
