    Mentor Memo 8 Mentee: Mike Evans Mentor: Qian Zhang Descriptions:

    Hi, Mike. In this week, you have finished questionnaires of Northouse chapter 13 and 14 and LC workbook chapter 9. You also planned another event of exploring the Secret Sidewalk of Niles for your project. You also worked with your members to complete the website.

    Insights:
    Your analysis for questionnaires is very detailed. This is really good since it means that those questionnaires helped you to know yourself better. And a better knowledge of yourself is critical to your success as a leader. I agree that the sample questions per category are too few to gain statistically significant results. However Project GLOBE employs a number of different methods to make etic comparisons among the cultures included in the GLOBE database. Its goal is to capture a big picture of the difference among leaders from different cultures, which shows the influence of cultures on leaders behaviors. I guess this is why you cant get much evaluation of your personal leadership skills. But it work well together with questionnaires from previous chapters to give you a completed image of your leadership profiles. You have planned the second event on this weekend for the project, which means that your project is well accomplished. And your organizations system is established to work ongoing. You have improved your leadership skills in this project. And I find that your leadership style is more intend to be a supportive. You enjoy working with people on a subject more instead of making people work for it. I guess this depends on your personality and the traits of your group. As you enjoy a Qian Zhang Page 1

    good relationship with your members and your group is spontaneous instead of assigned by authority. I think you can make more rules for the core group members for the project in the future and make your organization systemic.
