Brief overview: Justice Danziger was on a half-year leave of absence, during his investigation in a corruption scandal, in which he was involved as an attorney for the central figure (Mayor of the city of Bat Yam), prior to his appointment to the bench, and where he filed false banking records on behalf of his client. The January 10, 2012 report quotes Presiding Justice Beinisch as criticizing Justice Danziger in an exceptional sharp manner, writing: It appears that the opinion of Justice Danziger has confused the various steps of the criminal procedure, namely, discovery and ruling on admissibility. The March 4, 2012 report quotes the Judiciary Ombudsman Goldberg, referring to conflict of interest, related to Justice Danzigers office involvement in proceeding against a party, who came before Danziger as a justice. The ombudsman writes: I have no doubt, that the failure to inform the complainant [the corporation jz], of proceedings conducted by the Honorable Justice and his partners against the complainant, raise concern of undermining public perception of the administration of justice. In 2011, media criticized Danziger for failing to recuse himself in another case, related to another apparent conflict of interest, related to his past representation of a key witness in the criminal prosecution of former President Moshe Katzav, and his failure to recuse himself in that case as well.
