Objectives Globalization and expansion of business across national borders has lead to diversity in workforce composition. This course on cross-cultural and global HR is designed to enable the participants understand nuances of managing work force diversity in terms of motivating them and help the employees function in the new environment and deliver the best in them. UNIT-I Introduction to IHRM: Defining IHRM- Difference between domestic and IHRM-Variables that moderate differences between domestic and international HRM - Applying a strategic view of IHRM. Cross border alliance and SMEs cross border mergers and acquisitions. UNIT-II Staffing international operations for sustained global growth: Approaches to staffing-transferring staff for international business activities- roles of an expatriate roles of non- expatriate- role of HR function in MNEs. Recruiting and selecting staff for international assignments: issues in staff selection-factors moderating performance-selection criteria. UNIT-III international Training and Development: Role of expatriate training components of effective pre- departure training programme- developing staff through international assignments-Trends in international training and development. International compensation: objectives, key components and approaches of international compensation. UNIT-IV Re-entry and career issue: The repatriation process individual reactions to re-entry-multinational responses-designing a repatriation programme. IHRM in host country context: standardization and localization of HRM practices-monitoring HRM practices in host countries. Managing human resources in off shoring countries. UNIT-V International industrial relations: key issues in international industrial relations Trade unions and international industrial relations. The response of trade unions to multinationals. Performance Management: Multinational performance management performance management of international employeesperformance appraisal of international employees.
