29 March 2012 Air monitoring update - Chambers Wharf Following the discovery of a small piece of asbestos at the Chambers Wharf site, I am pleased to let you know the results to date, of our continuous air monitoring tests have confirmed that no asbestos has been found. The first steps we took following the discovery of the sample, after halting all works, was to install an air monitoring regime. This involved establishing nine dust and asbestos monitoring locations around the perimeter of the site and establishing a mobile laboratory in order to be able to analyse the results onsite. Air monitoring commenced on the site on Wednesday 21 March and we have been conducting up to 24 tests each day. This has allowed us to establish that there is no asbestos present in the air. On Monday 26 March we established site welfare facilities in order to begin our programme of dust suppression works; this required us to clean an area within the site compound. We have been continuing to take readings of air levels at two hour intervals. As of Wednesday 28 March, we have undertaken over 120 tests, the results of which all show that no asbestos has been found. This air monitoring regime will continue while we carry out the dust suppression works.
