Poetry Assessment

Throughout this unit, you have been tasked to write eight poems. These poems are due April 11.
Rhyming Poetry:
Poem 1 - Narrative Poem (a poem that tells a story) Poem 2 - Figurative Poem (a poem that is a simile, metaphor, or uses personication) Both poems need to include end rhyme.

Sonnets:
Poem 1 - Write a sonnet about your spring break. Poem 2 - Write a sonnet of a topic of your choice.

Free Verse (Whitman):

Poem 1 - Write your own I can hear ___ singing poem. Choose your own place and then write about the people singing in that place.
Examples: can hear Seoul singing. I I can hear McDonalds singing. I can hear the farm singing. I can the beach singing.

Poem 2 - Write a free-verse poem of a topic of your choice.

Free Verse (Sandburg):

Poem 1 - Write a free-verse poem that creates a visual image, word picture. Poem 2 - Write a free-verse poem that uses a metaphor to convey a hidden meaning.
