Underage Drivers

Nowadays, we often hear news about car accident, and most of the car accidents are caused by underage drivers. Last January, there was a car accident in Makassar, South Sulawesi, that was caused by junior high school boy, and hit 15 people. Recently, a girl that just turned 17, died in a car accident when she was driving. There has to be road safety education for both of children and the parents. Parents of underage drivers take a big deal every time their children gets behind the wheel. Parents are considered to be responsible of their childrens negligent act when driving, and most parents are not aware of this. Some parents know about this risk, but they unaware when their children drive without their permission. In this case, parents should pay more attention of their children and talk to them about the dangerous being underage drivers, but before that, parents have to be more aware of their responsibilty for their children. Parents also should be more careful and dont give their children a chance to drive without any permissions. Parents should be role models early on by demonstrating good driving behavior to teach their children. If parents drive with caution and obey the traffic laws, so their children can also have more respect for road safety. Chatting with kids is the most important thing for parents. They should chat and get to know with their children, especially when they suspect irresponsible behavior of their children. Thus, providing safety road information for young people maybe can increase the number of car accidents that caused by underage drivers and stop another unlicensed teen from driving a car.
