New Year Blessing & Water Festival

Thingyan also known as water festival mark the turn of the Myanmar year, welcoming New Year. Thingyan may fall on any day in Tagu or Kason of the Myanmar calendar but it usually falls on April 13 or 14 of the Gregorian calendar. This year it falls on the 13th of April. The commencement of Thingyan marks the entry of the apparent sun into the sign of Aries and the end of Thingyan or its rise, marks the entry of the mean sun into the same sign. The end of the Thingyan flows over into New Year Day. The new Myanmar year, 1374, will begin on Tuesday, April 15, 2012. We will celebrate the welcome blessing of New Year festival as follows. You and your family are cordially invited to participate in our Happy New Year Blessing Celebration and water festival. - MMBA 30, Jalan SS2/72, Petaling Jaya, 47300 Selangor.
