The 6th January will see the second year of Bright Young Things taking over the windows of the iconic Selfridges store on Oxford Street. Following the success of last year, the initiative has returned on a vast scale. The project offers fledgling UK based talent a platform in which to showcase their works of art, design, fashion or food.

This year however a conscious effort has been made to select desginers who are even less known than last years offerings. Contemporary Womenswear buyer Alex Lancovici noted that None of this year's brands have a bricks-and-mortar stockist in the UK, which is really exciting for Selfridges as it means some wonderfully fresh, unique additions to our shop floor edit. Selfridges have extended the promotion of new designers by joining forces with the University of Arts, London, to offer a window from the Future Map graduates.
This years windows are to be furnished by the likes of Shaun Samson (below), the Californian born- London based, Central Saint Martins graduate who famously worked on four Jeremy Scott collections whilst studying. The inimitable Sorcha ORaghallaigh, another Bright Young Thing to design for Lady Gaga in this case a headless dress, will have a window alongside fellow womenswear designers Maarten van der Horst and Alice Lee.
