Wiring a PIDU Data Transtector The transtector installed in the telco box for the PIDU units is one

of the lightning protections use to secure the equipments in the network in case of a lightning discharge. The PIDUs use POE (Power over Ethernet) to send DATA and power to the Orthogon MW using a CAT5 cable (in our case) that is ran from the PIDU to the top of the tower.

PIDU Transtector Orthogon The transtector is installed between the Orthogon and the PIDU and is wired using a punch down tool. It has 4 connectors: CON1-CON2 carrying power and CON3-CON4 carrying DATA where the right side goes to the PIDU and the left side goes to the MW (tower).

CON1 and CON2 have the connections for PINs 4-5-7-8 of a CAT5 RJ45 connector. CON3 and CON4 have the connections for PINs 1-2-3-6 (DATA Tx-Rx)of a CAT5 RJ45 connector.

Since we are using preassembled Class B Cat5 Ethernet patch cords on the PIDU side we have to wire the Transtector using the pin out for a Class B Cat5 connector. The pin out and color code for an RJ45 Class B connector goes like this: RJ45 10BaseT or 100BaseT connector with Cat5 cable using EIA/TIA 56B Standard

This means that when wiring the transtector we are going to do it like this: CON3-CON4 (Data) 1 White-orange 2 Orange 3 White-green 6 Green CON1-CON2 (Power) 4 Blue 5 White-blue 7 White-brown 8 Brown
