    Hero side Jackson urged congress to pass tariff the lowered the previous rate.

    He wanted the states to control the banks.


    He improved the national debt. Veto Bills

    Argued state power should be greater than federal power.

    Villain side Removal of the Indians

    Hot tempered, crude, and ill equipped to be President. He didnt want to give state rights to South Carolina.

    He passed a law saying that if anyone would oppose his idea, he had the right to use the power of the army. He passed a tariff in the South even though they protested. Caused the panic of 1837.

    Vetoed charter of renewal of the national bank of the United States
