The members are Declan Billington, Owen Brennan, David Dobbin, Jim Dobson, Trevor Lockhart, Ian Marshall, Francis Martin and John Thompson. The Agri-Food Strategy Board has been tasked by the DARD (Department of Agriculture and Rural Development) and DETI (Department of Trade and Enterprise) ministers with developing a strategic plan for the agri-food sector. It consists of an independent chairperson, Mr Tony ONeill and 12 members; eight from industry and four senior government representatives from DARD, DETI and InvestNI. Making the announcement Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Michelle ONeill and Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister Arlene Foster said: The eight people we have appointed today will bring a wealth of experience and key skills across a wide range of areas. They, together with the chair Tony ONeill, will now commence work on developing the existing Focus on Food strategy into a longer term vision for the sector, with industry- determined goals and targets. The agri-food sector has been recognised as a priority in the Programme for Government 2011- 2015 and in the Economic Strategy as a sector with great potential for further growth. The Agri- Food Strategy Board therefore has an important role to play in ensuring that the potential of the sector is maximised for the good of our economy. We are calling on everyone in the supply chain to support the board in developing a shared vision and plan for the future. Speaking on the appointment of the members of the Agri-Food Strategy Board (AFSB), Tony ONeill, AFSB chairman and Moy Park director, said: I welcome the appointment of the eight industry BY RICHARD HALLERON Safety initiative launched PAGES 16-17 Lurgan Show marks milestone PAGES 36-37 Saturday, May 5, 2012 BurRes o CornascrIebe MarkaIhIII oad, ForIadoWn TaIaphona 0ZB 8BB4 0ZZB f0LL k6L 0f f0LL k6L 0f 80NL8 IL6LL 80NL8 IL6LL ML0k F08 100 fLILI8L LI0L1 NhLL 100 Nk Il 'k0t0t h8 II 6000 M0t0 Im0tI80I 0 h8t0 000t8I0 80WI0' I00k fLILI8L 80NL 5aw 8enches & Log 5p|itters S+W B|c| |c Sp||||| www.burkesni.co.uk 2012 BEST ULSTER COW: Ulster Rugby star Rory Best helped David Mawhinney to launch the McLarnon Feeds/ NISA Dairy Cow Championship 2012 with last years Champion, Copywood Goldwyn Sara 2 owned by Philip and Simon Haffey from Lurgan. Mr McKeever crashed his 600cc Yamaha at the Cooley Hill section of the circuit on the approach to Joeys Dip during practice for the senior support class. He was transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast under a PSNI escort. The practice was stopped early as a result. Last night, clerk of the course RJ Woolsey told the News Letter: Practice was then cancelled because the sun was starting to go down and we were running a bit late.
