Rich Ferrone Contact Number: 973-326-7482 Police Unity Tour Riding Through Morris Township Each year members of the Morris Township Police Department participate in the Police Unity Bicycle Tour to raise awareness and money for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC. Their motto is, We ride for those who died; so their memory and ultimate sacrifice will never be forgotten. This year the Morris Township Police Department will be represented by 6 police officers making the 300 mile bike ride from East Hanover, NJ to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington D.C. The officers riding this year are Sgt. Mark DiCarlo, Ptl. Dave Powell, Ptl Chris Tongring, Ptl. Mark Osterhoudt, Ptl. Jim Perruso, Ptl. Jenna Landrigan, and retired Chief of Police and current Township Administrator, Timothy Quinn. They will be leaving on May 9th and arriving on May 12th. This will coincide with the candlelight vigil at the Memorial on May 13th to honor the 163 Law Enforcement Officers killed in the line of duty during 2011 and the over 19,000 officers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice since 1792. Over 1,400 police officers from around the country will make the ride this year. 600 of them will ride through Morris Township tomorrow morning. The route will bring them out of Madison via Woodland Ave., to Dwyer La., to South St., to Southgate Pw, to James St. and into Harding Township. At approximately 9:30am. drivers should expect an approximately 15 minute delay as the riders past through this end of the Township. Come out and show them your support as they begin their trek.
