Christopher Paul Curtis

Christopher Paul Curtis, the author of Bud, not Buddy was born on May 10, 1953. He was born in Flint, Michigan. He was the second oldest sibling of five children. He currently lives in Detroit, Michigan. He used his birthplace as a setting for many stories. In Bud, not Buddy, Bud is from Flint, Michigan. After graduating from Flint Southwestern High School, he applied to Flints University of Michigan and applied for a job at Fisher Body Plant No.1, a car assembly facility. In the factory, the jungle was the hardest place, where all the processes began. In the jungle, metals were welded to become the body and frame of the automobile. Christophers job was to put on doors once the frame and body were assembled. His inspiration came from many things. His grandfather was a Negro League baseball pitcher and also a band leader. This band was The Herman E. Calloway and the Dusky Devastators of the Depression. He did not want to encourage racism. He was actually against it. Christopher Paul Curtis won the Coretta Scott King award and the Newberry Medal for Bud, not Buddy. This book was the first to win both awards. He has published many books.
