Ann smiled in her sleep. She was dleamg that her fashion doll had come to life rd was giving advice on hairdos to Ann rd her friends. "If you know what to do," the doll was ivillg, "you can work magic with haildos." "We can?" exclaimed Ann. "You mean rr hair styles can really be used to make rr noses seem shorter, or whatever?"

"Indeed so," said the doll. "For instance, the oval-shaped face is what every girl wants, but not, alas, what every girl has. With fool-the-eye tricks she can make her face seem more oval. The main idea is to avoid repeating the line of a poor feature." She began to write on a blackboard, saying, "Here is a list of feature faults and what to do about them."

Aroundface:Half-bangs slanted to the side make the face seem less round. Smooth sides, with hair brushed up and back, add length to the face.

Along face:'Io make the face seem rounder, fluff the hair at the sides, keeping the top smooth. Bangs make a high forehead seemshorter....

Atriangulnr face (wider at the jaw line than across the forehead): Flufi out the hair at the narrow part of the face and keep it smooth at the wide part. This makes the upper part seem wider and the face more oval in shape.
A square face: Apart slanting from the center front makes the forehead seem narrower. The hair may be short, with smooth sides, or longer with a flipped-under style
