Children Left Home Alone

Being home alone can be scary for kids and parents. The City Ordinance requires children to be at least 11 years old. However, regardless of age, make sure your child is mature enough to follow these basic rules. Know their address and how to call 911 Know how to operate door & window locks and security systems Insist they lock all doors and windows due to an increase in non-forced entry burglaries Parents should install eye viewers at a level comparable to your childrens height and ask trusted neighbors to help watch your children. Sometimes criminals are looking for an empty residence to burglarize. If someone is at the door, always look outside first. Let the person know someone is home by calling out through the locked door never open the door to a stranger. Ask them to go away and be prepared to call 911.
