Blow out all the air in your lungs as hard as you can until completely empty.

Breathe in as fast as you can: open your throat as if you were yawning and drop your tongue right down into your mouth cavity. Close your mouth and drop your shoulders. Take an extra breath into your mouth without letting the air in your lungs escape, close your mouth and swallow the air. Drop your shoulders: you should feel some uncomfortable pressure.

Hold this for 6 seconds and then breathe out over a count of four in a CONTROLLED way until your lungs are totally empty.

Repeat 10 times. Now try it without the hold. Try breathing in and out over different counts: In over 8, out over 4 In over 2, out over 8 In over 8, out over 8 In over 8, out over 2 Or whatever numbers take your fancy. Push yourself beyond comfortable limits, but should you feel faint,

STOP!

Play some long notes and see if you can improve your personal best.
