Origin of June Parties: June parties started when the Portuguese came to Brazil in 1500.

. Festa Junina has that name because it is celebrated in June. They are celebrated in June 13th (Santo Antnio), 24th (So Joo) and 29th (So Pedro).

Typical foods are made of corn. Some examples are: baked corn, hominy, popcorn, corn cake, pamonha (a fresh corn cake). Typical drinks of the party for adults are made of alchool. Some examples are: quento, pinga and others, but there are also drinks made from other things.

-Girls: wear dresses with flowers, straw hats and shoes sometimes boots. -Boys: wear jeans and a checkered shirts and straw hats.

Where they happen: The parties happen in schools, clubs, some churches, in some houses and other places.

How is the decoration: There are a lot of flowers, it is very colorful, there are stands with lights, stands of food and games and there is straw too. It is a colorful country party, there is a bonfire too.

There are a lot of activities during the month of June in magazines and newspapers including: word searches, crossword, masks, puzzle, maze, drawings and games.

Pescaria: is a game where you throw a bait to catch a paper fish and win a prize Boca de Palhao: you throw a ball in the clowns mouth and win a prize. Pau de Sebo: Souvenirs are placed at the tip of a greased pole. Whoever finishes climbing the mast, gets the gift. Correio Elegante: It is a game where participants send each other

Quadrilha is a dance that is very exciting and it is like an informal waltz when a man and a woman pretend to get married. In general, the first pair in the dance is the groom" and the "bride", and they stage a wedding.

Traditionally, people believed that in June parties they could offer promises to Santo Antonio, So Joo and Santo Pedro, so they got a boyfriend or girlfriend.
