Participation Level In Football Has Dropped

Sport England has seen a dramatic fall in the number of adults (16+) participating regularly in football, with players numbers decreasing from 2,144,700 million to 2,117,000 million from 2007 to 2011, I feel this is because of the lack of success of the England mens national team, having been knocked out in disappointing style in the world cup when Germany smash England with a score line of 4-1. This hardly inspires people to get there boots on play a game of football.

Spectatorship In Football Has Increase

Statistics say in 2012 there were over 9,660,648 spectators in the premier league within 120 at this moment in time whereas in 2007 the Statistics say there was over 8,832,965 spectators in the premier league within 280 games played, I feel this is because of the talent we have in the premier league, players such as Wayne Rooney, Joe Hart and many more and even the young players such as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jack Wilshere and many more. People like to see these players play because there bring big hopes for the club and fans like to see the talent. The other reason why spectatorship in football has increase is the media coverage because Sky Sports has said in 1994; around 44,000 people on average were
attending football grounds to watch their teams play then in 2011, sky and ESPN can show 136 this shows there has been a big increase in people watch football.
