Goodyear Lake Sedimentation Survey

SUNY Oneonta Biological Field Station 17 May 2012

Depth contours were drawn at 1-meter intervals based on more than 7,000 depth points collected during the 17 May survey. More depth points are necessary in order to create more accurate contours, though the areas of greatest concern to the Goodyear Lake users and community can be compared to the map created in 1978 (Thornton). The area south of the Milford Center Creek inflow was described as an area of great concern; this area was targeted during the suvey, but was too shallow to traverse with our equipment, indicating that sediment has accumulated there since 1978. Historically, this area was shallow, though had depths ranging from 2-4 meters; current depth is less than 2 meters.

The bathymetric contours on this map are intended for informative purposes only, as in comparison with the full map created in 1978 by Steven Thornton to assess changes in bottom depth over time. This survey was not conducted at sufficient intensity to produce a fully accurate bathymetric map.
