Welcome to Philadelphia! Dear Fellow Democrats: Welcome to Philadelphia!

We are excited to kickoff the YDA 2012 General Election Cycle in a city with such a deep history of promise and progress. We are visiting a state that will prove pivotal to not only the re-election of President Obama and Vice-President Biden, but also for our ability to retain control of the U.S. Senate and take back the U.S. House of Representatives! Over the course of the weekend, we will make decisions about our states, committees, and caucuses, elect new representation to the DNC, and continue an ongoing discussion about how best we move YDA forward. Please take the time to think through what your local or state chapter, committee or caucus, and what you yourself can be doing to strengthen the narrative that we are young people, engaged in shaping the future of our nation through politics, through policy, and more important through overall community service and engagement. The stakes of this election cannot be higher. Mitt Romney believes that America will be at its best if we cut more taxes for the most wealthy while asking the working and middle class and our generation to shoulder the burden through higher student loan rates, reduced access to health insurance, young women continuing to enter the workplace making 77 cents for every dollar a man does, and the list goes on and on. Our generation cannot afford that future and our nation does not deserve that future. As a coalition of high school students, college students, college graduates, young professionals, young couples, young families, military veterans, teachers, firefighters, union members, we know that the very nature of the American dream, which has allowed so many from previous generations to succeed and strengthen our nation, is at stake. We cannot retreat, not while we have accomplished so much -- not while we have so much more work to do! This summer and into the fall, YDA will lead the charge in the fight for the American Dream and we hope you will join us. Lets all get to work!
