What Physicists Do
THE ERDC
-Because the Philippines is highly dependent on oil. So they would like to find local energy sources that can substitute for oil.
They operate the photovoltaic cells. These cells, when exposed to the sun, convert sunlight directly to electricity.
Physicists along with a team of scientists, engineers, chemists and technologists study the effects of these radiations as they interact with tissues or other materials like metals.
They work on gadgets that can help in the improvement of our machines used in operations. For example, the carbon dioxide laser.
For physicists worldwide, laser research is a major interest. A laser beam with the right amount of energy may trigger nuclear fusion. And nuclear fusions occur at high temperatures. So fusion may as well provide the answer to our energy problem.
