Alright, so EV's are Effort Values. Effort Values are received whenever you battle with a Pokemon.

These
values can help boost the stats of your Pokemon by incredible numbers. Now then, whenever you battle
the Pokemon your battle gives you EV's. Think of it this way. In an RPG, like Final Fantasy, when you
defeat someone, you not only get experience, but you also lewt their body. Same thing. Not only do you
get experience, but you also get bonus points to your stats.
But not only EV's effect your stats. In addition, nature also effects stats. How? Each stat is calculated with
a formula that uses the base stat number and the EV number. You can get a 10% boost to a stat and a
10% decrease to a stat from a nature. Here's the list:

Lonely: Attack raised, Defense decreases

Brave: Attack raised, Speed decreases
Adamant: Attack raised, Special Attack decreases
Naughty: Attack raised, Special Defense decreases
Bold: Defense raised, Attack decreases
Relaxed: Defense raised, Speed decreases
Impish: Defense raised, Special Attack decreases
Lax: Defense raised, Special Defense decreases
Timid: Speed raised, Attack decreases
Hasty: Speed raised, Defense decreases
Jolly: Speed raised, Special Attack decreases
Naïve: Speed raised, Special Defense decreases
Modest: Special Attack raised, Attack decreases
Mild: Special Attack raised, Defense decreases
Quiet: Special Attack raised, Speed decreases
Rash: Special Attack raised, Special Defense decreases
Calm: Special Defense raised, Attack decreases
Gentle: Special Defense raised, Defense decreases
Sassy: Special Defense raised, Speed decreases
Careful: Special Defense raised, Special Attack decreases

Each gives a 10% boost to the first stat and a -10% to the second. There are 5 natures that don't effect
stats, which are Bashful, Quirky, Serious, Docile, Hardy. Keep natures in mind and if you can't find
something you like, spend about an hour breeding. Keeping a Pokemon with Flame Body or Magma
Armor halves the steps needed for breeding, as well as certain attacks having the ability to be passed
down if the male has them and nature having a 50% pass down chance if the user is female, has the
nature, and is holding an Everstone.
Now, back to EV training. In total, you can have 510 EV's. Each stat can only have up to 255 EV's. That
means two stats will get +62, while another with get +1. Let's say that you want to train a Dratini into a
godly Dragonite. Then, first find what you want to give it a boost in. Let's say you want it fast and bulky.
You would want to EV train it in Speed and in Attack. Now, remember those HP UPs and Carbos? Those
actually give +10 EV's to their stat assignment. However, they are limited to 10. So use 10 to quickly
boost a stat to 100 EV's, then the other 152 (being as how the bonus is equal to EV's divided by 4, and
252 goes into 4 while 255 doesn't) must be gotten the hard way. Pokerus helps, as it doubles the amount
of EV's you receive, as does Macho Brace, and the Power add ons, introduced in Diamond and Pearl,
give an additional +4 to their corresponding stat but half speed. Did you get all of that? Well, if not this
document won't go anywhere, so take your time.
Now, after all of that, where must you go to EV train? Simple.

HP: Near Pal Park, Gastrodons.

Speed: Trophy Garden, kill Staravia, Pichu, Pikachu.
Sp. Def: North of Valley Windworks. Avoid Wingulls.
Sp. Attk: Old Chateau, second floor the second door from the right in that hallway.
Defense: Iron Island, avoid bats.
Attk.: Route 212, just West of Pastoria. Bibarels and Krickitunes.

When you think you are done, go ahead and go to Sunnyshore City, to the ribbon house. Put the EV
trained Pokemon first in your party. If it is maxed out, she'll give it a ribbon. Congrats, you can now train it
normally. Thanks for reading the tutorial, support me by going here: - http://www.cemaonline.net -
