TERMS AND CONDITIONS


1. By entering the competition, you hereby warrant that all information submitted by you is true, current and complete. The Organizer reserves the right to verify the eligibility of all applicants. 2. By entering the competition, you accept the present terms and conditions. 3. No purchase of payment of any kind is required to enter or win this Competition. 4. The Competition is open to individuals from Members States of the ITU (see www.itu.int/members/index.html). Individuals must be older than 18 and younger than 26 at the time of entry. 5. Applicants must not be an employee (or member of an employees family or household) of ITU nor holding an offer for future employment with ITU. Winners of ITU Telecom World 2011 are not eligible. 6. The submission period begins in April 2012 and ends on 1st July 2012 at 24 hours GMT. 7. Participants must register and submit entries on-line at http://world2012.itu.int/young-innovators-competition. Only submissions submitted through this website will be accepted. 8. All submissions must be submitted in English in an electronic format at the address mentioned above and include four parts: Biographical Information, Summary, Business Plan and Presentation. The first two parts should be filled in directly on the website; the Business Plan should be uploaded as a Word document; the Presentation should be uploaded in PowerPoint. Applicants will be able to enter and update more than one submission up to three times in either category up to the deadline. 9. Submissions in the Concept category must be original unpublished works that are not currently under review by another contest or journal, be solely owned by the participants and must not violate the intellectual property rights of other parties. 10. Applicants may work with a team but only one designated person will be invited to the Event and granted fellowship. 11. Finalists and winners will be selected by a Selection Committee determined by the Organizer. Decisions of the Selection Committee are final and without appeal. 12. Finalists of the Competition will be announced on 1st September 2012 at http://world2012.itu.int/young-innovators-competition . The Organizer will notify the finalists via email. 13. Upon notification that the applicant is invited to ITU Telecom World 2012 acceptance must be confirmed within 10 days. If confirmation is not received the Organizer reserves the right to withdraw its offer. 14. Applicants must hold a valid passport on the date of travel. Finalists will be requested to supply a copy of their passport for fellowship arrangements. 15. Finalists who do not attend the Event are disqualified from the Prize and other Benefits. 16. If selected as a Finalist, the applicant is obliged to attend all workshops and provide their pitch to the best of their abilities in good faith. This also applies to all remote pre-event activity. 17. Winners in the Concept category will receive between three and five thousand Swiss Francs and those in the project category will receive between five and ten thousand Swiss Francs. The level of funding will be determined by the Selection Committee based on the need expressed by the applicant, the quality of the submission (innovativeness, business potential, social impact potential, likelihood of success and bonus points) and the result of the interview.

18. Participation in the Competition constitutes the Winners consent to the Organizers use of the Winners Submission for promotional purposes in any media, worldwide, without payment or consideration. 19. By entering the Competition, applicants agree to release and hold harmless the Organizer from and against any and all claims, expenses, and liability, including but not limited to negligence and damages of any kind to persons and property, infringement of trademark, copyright or other intellectual property rights arising out of or relating to participation in the Competition. 20. The Organizer reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any entry which does not comply with the requirements/framework of this competition. 21. The Organizer is not responsible for lost, late, corrupted, mutilated or misdirected entries, or entries not received in time for judging. 22. No substitution or transfer of prize by the Winner is permitted. The Winner is responsible for all applicable taxes and fees associated with receipt and/or use of the prize. 23. Winners will be encouraged to provide quarterly reports that will enable the Organizer to better assist them. 24. The Organizer shall have the right, in its sole discretion, to abbreviate, modify, suspend, cancel or terminate the competition without any future obligation. 25. The Organizer reserves the right to make all final decisions. Nothing herein shall be considered to be a limitation or a waiver of the privileges and immunities of the ITU, which are specially reserved.
