You can apply for the Simpson Scholarship if you meet the following criteria.

You are registered as an ACCA student, and You have paid your fees for the year ahead, and You have no other fees outstanding, and You have completed and achieved an average of 80% or more in the Knowledge modul e (Papers F1F3) of the Fundamentals level of the ACCA Qualification - at your fir st attempt, or If you have exemptions from the Knowledge module (Papers F1F3) of the Fundamental s level, then you must have achieved 66% or more in at least two ACCA Qualificat ion papers in the Fundamentals Skills module - at your first attempt, and You have completed the 2011 PER return If you meet the eligibility criteria for the Scholarship then the next step is t o submit your application to ACCA. You, the applicant, must write an essay entitled: 'How the award of a Scholarship will help me to realise my full potential'. Your application must be accompanied by a Scholarship submission form including two references. Full criteria for the essay and Scholarship Submission form can be found in the sections below. Closing date The closing date for 2012 applications is Friday 4 May. Your essay must: be typed in MS word or other similar word processing package be a maximum of 1,000 words be in 12-point sized, black font be double line-spaced have a 1-inch (2.5cm) margin at each side be A4 size include your student registration number, date and page number at the top of eac h page be in English be clear, concise and relevant to the title above. If using tables and figures, six figures count as one word. Handwritten submissions will not be accepted. There are three stages in the selection process. Below are key dates and details on how the process will be administered. Key dates 4 May Closing date for receipt of applications 1 June 20 finalists selected for judging panel 18 June Five Scholarship winners selected by judging panel 29 June Scholarship winners announced You will be notified if you are among the 20 finalists whose application will be reviewed by the judging panel. ACCA is not able to provide individual feedback to applicants who are not shortl isted/successful. The five Scholarship winners will be notified by ACCA, via email, that their app lication has been successful. All winners will be sent an information pack and l etter confirming that they will receive funds from the Simpson Scholarship. The winners of the Scholarship will have the following fees paid on their behalf , from the Scholarship Fund, for a maximum of five years from the date of the aw ard or until they have become members whichever happens first. Payment of ACCA: examination fees annual student subscription fees annual affiliate subscription fees membership admission fee* As an added bonus, ACCA's Platinum Approved Learning Partner - content, BPP Lear ning Media - have kindly agreed to provide the Scholarship winners with a set of learning materials for each ACCA paper they are studying. * This does not include the annual membership subscription fee Miss Muriel Simpson FCCA died on 22 December 1977 and, in her Will, left her res iduary estate to ACCA to fund a Scholarship to be called the 'Simpson Scholarshi p'. Miss Simpson's wishes were that the Scholarship Fund be used to fund the further education of ACCA students who have already proven themselves to be of sufficie nt merit and distinction in ACCA examinations. ACCA announces 2011 Simpson Scholarship winners ACCA is delighted to announce the names of the 2011 recipients of the Simpson Sc holarship. This years winners come from China, Malta, Nigeria, Russia, and the UK . As ever, our winners will have their exam fees, annual student or affiliate fees , and membership admission fees paid for them by the scholarship fund for up to five years, or until ACCA membership is achieved, whichever happens sooner. Our winners have been picked from a very tough field, so they should feel very proud of their achievement; it wasnt easy for our judge s. The judges were really impre ssed by the overall quality of the submissions, and they enjoyed the challenge o f picking out winners. This years winning entrants were variously described by ACCAs judging panel as insp irational and high quality. One winner was described as an excellent role-model for ACCA. The recipients of this years scholarship are: Ms Shi Weijia of China; Mr Mark Lom bardi of Malta; Ms Ojikutu Muyinat Olajumoke of Nigeria; Ms Darya Timoshina of R

ussia; and Mr Ian Kidd of the UK. To be awarded the scholarship, applicants had to have achieved the highest stand ards in the exams they had already sat, and they had to submit a 1000-word essay on how the scholarship would help them achieve their full potential. The Simpson Scholarship has been running in its current form since 2008 and was made possible by an endowment from ACCA Fellow, Muriel Simpson. Ms Simpson reque sted that ACCA run a scholarship to recognise the achievements of high-calibre s tudents. Last years winners came from Bahrain, Nigeria, Pakistan, Singapore, and Vietnam. Since 2008, the Simpson Scholarship has helped 20 ACCA students, from 13 differe nt countries.
