Hardware Overview

Hardware Overview

Power LED A solid light indicates a proper connection to the power supply.

Status LED A blinking light indicates that the DIR-100 is functioning properly.

Local Network LEDs A solid light on each port indicates a connection to an Ethernet enabled device. These LEDs blink during data transmission.

WAN LED A solid light indicates a connection on the WAN port. This LED blinks during data transmission.

Hardware Overview

LAN Ports These are the connections for Ethernet cables to Ethernet-enabled computers.

WAN Port This is for the connection of an Ethernet cable to your Cable or DSL modem.

Reset Button Pressing this button restores the Router to its original factory default settings.

Hardware Installation
A. First, connect the power adapter to the receptor at the back panel of the DIR-100 and then plug the other end of the power adapter to a wall outlet or power strip. The Power LED will turn ON to indicate proper operation. B. 1. Power off your Cable or DSL modem; some devices may not have a on/off switch and will require you to unplug the power adapter. Now, the DIR-100 should be powered on and the Cable/ DSL modem should be turned off. . Cable/DSL modem (Power Off) DIR-100 (Power On) Connect an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet jack located on the Cable/DSL modem. After the Ethernet cable is securely connected, power on the Cable/DSL modem by turning on the unit or plugging in the power adapter. . Cable/DSL modem (Power On) DIR-100 (Power On) Insert the other end of the Ethernet cable to the WAN PORT on the back panel of the DIR-100. The WAN LED light will illuminate to indicate proper connection. If the WAN LED is not illuminated, please go back to step B1 and repeat the instructions. C. Insert an Ethernet cable to LAN port 1 on the back panel of the DIR-100 and an available Ethernet port on the network adapter in the computer you will use to configure the DIR-100. The LED light for LAN Port 1 will illuminate to indicate proper connection. Note: The LAN Ports on the DIR-100 are Auto-MDI/MDIX. Meaning you can use a straight-through or crossover Ethernet cable to the LAN Ports. D. Computers equipped with Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet adapters will be able to connect to the DIR-100. The DFE-50TX or DGE50T PCI Adapters (as examples) will be able to connect with the router without any additional configuration required.

This section will show you how to configure your new D-Link DIR-100 Router using the D-Link Setup Wizard.
Open your Web browser and type http://192.168.0.1 into the URL address box. Then press the Enter or Return key.

Type admin for the username and leave the password field blank.

Click Log In

Dynamic IP Address
You will be prompted to select the type of Internet connection for your router. If you are unsure of which setting to select, please contact your Internet Service Provider. PPPoE - page 10 PPTP - page 11 LTP - page 1 Big Pond - page 1 Static IP Address - page 1

If you selected Dynamic IP Address, this screen will appear: (Used mainly for Cable Internet service).
Click the Clone MAC Address button to automatically copy the MAC address of the network adapter in your computer. You can also manually type in the MAC address.

If your ISP uses PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet), select the corresponding radio button.

If you have a Dynamic IP connection, enter the User Name and Password provided to you by your ISP.

Note: Please be sure to remove any existing PPPoE client software installed on your computers.

You will be returned to the Home tab. Close this web browser window and open a new one (i.e., Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator). Link to your favorite Web site to test your Internet connection. For additional settings or information, refer to the Advanced, Tools, or Status tabs on the web-management interface; or to the Manual located on the CD.

Appendix
To connect to the network, make sure the network adapter in your computer is configured properly. Heres how to configure the network adapter to obtain an IP address automatically when using the DIR-100 Router. For Microsoft Windows XP: Right click on My Network Places and select Properties. Right click on the Network Connection associated with the Ethernet adapter and select Properties (i.e., D-Link DFE-50TX+).
Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and then click Properties. Click OK

Select Obtain an IP Address automatically.

Click OK

Appendix For Apple Macintosh OS X: Go to the Apple Menu and click on System Preferences, and select Network.
Click Network

Select Built-in Ethernet in the Show pull down menu.

Select Using DHCP in the Configure pull down menu.

The IP address information, the Subnet Mask, the Routers IP address, and the Ethernet adapter address will appear.

Click Apply Now and restart your computer (if necessary).

A. Primero, conecte el adaptador de poder al receptor que se encuentra en el panel posterior del DIR-100 y luego enchufe el otro extremo en el toma corriente de pared o alargador. El Led POWER se encender para indicar que esta funcionando apropiadamente. B. 1. Apague su MODEM DSL; Algunos dispositivos no tiene interruptor de encendido y/o apagado, requieren que usted desenchufe el adaptador de pared. Ahora, el DIR-100 debe estar encendido cuando el MODEM Cable/DSL este apagado. . Con el MODEM Cable/DSL (apagado), y el DIR-100 (encendido) conecte un cable Ethernet al conector Ethernet que se encuentra en el MODEM Cable/DSL. Despus de conectar el cable Ethernet, Encienda el MODEM Cable/DSL prendiendo la unidad o enchufando el adaptador de poder. . Con el MODEM Cable/DSL (encendido), y el DIR-100 (encendido), conecte el otro extremo del cable ethernet al puerto WAN en el panel posterior del DIR-100. El Led Wan se encender indicando una conexin apropiada.SI el Led WAN no se enciende, por favor vuelva al paso B1 y repita las instrucciones. C. Conecte un cable Ethernet al puerto LAN 1 en la parte posterior del DIR-100 y en un puerto Ethernet disponible en el adaptador de red en el computador que usted utilizar para configurar el DIR100. La luz del Led LAN 1 se encender para indicar una conexin apropiada. Nota: Los puertos LAN del DIR-100 son Auto MDI/MDIX. Abra su explorador de Internet e Ingrese la IP por defecto en la barra de direcciones "1.16.0.101" Luego presione el Botn ENTER o RETURN para continuar.

Teclee admin en el campo de usuario y deje el campo de la contrasea en blanco.

Para conectar a la Red, asegrese que el adaptador de Red de su computador este configurado apropiadamente. Aqu se muestra como configurar su adaptador de Red para obtener una direccin IP automticamente utilizando el Router DIR-100. Para Microsoft Windows XP: Presione click derecho sobre el icono mis sitios de red y seleccione propiedades. Presione click derecho en el icono conexiones de Red asociado con el adaptador de red y selecciones propiedades (Ej. D-Link DFE-50TX+).
Click en Protocolo de Internet (TCP/IP) y luego presione Propiedades. Click en OK

Seleccione Obtener Direccin IP automticamente.

A. Primeiro, conecte o adaptador de energia ao receptor no painel traseiro do DIR-100, conecte a outra extremidade do cabo em uma tomada de parede ou estabilizador. O LED Power ir acender para indicar operao apropriada. B. 1. Desligue o seu Cable/Modem DSL; alguns equipamentos no possuem chave liga/desliga, e precisam ser desligados diretamente no adaptador. Agora, o DIR-100 poder ser ligado e o Cable/Modem DSL dever permanecer desligado. . Cable/Modem DSL (Desligado) DIR-100 (Ligado) Conecte o cabo Ethernet a uma porta Ethernet localizada no Cable/ Modem DSL. Depois que o cabo Ethernet estiver seguramente conectado, ligue o Cable/Modem DSL ligando atravs do boto, ou re-conectando o adaptador de energia. . Cable/Modem DSL (Ligado) DIR-100 (Ligado) Insira a outra extremidade do cabo Ethernet PORTA WAN no painel traseiro do DIR-100. O LED WAN ir se iluminar para indicar operao apropriada. Se o LED WAN no se iluminar, por favor volte ao passo B1, e repita as instrues. C. Insira um cabo Ethernet porta LAN 1 no painel traseiro do DIR-100, e a outra extremidade em uma porta Ethernet de um computador, que ser usado para configurar o DIR-100. O LED da porta 1 ir piscar para indicar operao apropriada. Nota: As portas LAN do DIR-100 so Auto-MDI/MDIX. Isso significa que voc pode usar um cabo Ethernet direto ou crossover nas portas LAN. D. Computadores equipados com adaptadores Ethernet ou Gigabit Ethernet podero se conectar ao DIR-100. Os adaptadores PCI (por exemplo DFE-50TX ou DGE-50T), podero se conectar ao Roteador sem nenhuma configurao adicional.

Para conectar a rede, certifique-se que o adaptador de rede do seu computador esteja configurado corretamente. Nesta seo voc ver como configurar o seu adaptador de rede para obter um endereo IP automaticamente, usando o Roteador DIR-100 com DHCP. Para Microsoft Windows XP: Clique com boto direito em Meus Locais de Rede e selecione Propriedades. Clique com o boto direito em Conexes de Rede associado com o seu adaptador Ethernet e selecione Propriedades (Ex.: D-Link DFE-50TX+).
Clique em Protocolo de Internet (TCP/IP) e depois em Propriedades. Clique em OK

Selecione Obter um Endereo IP automaticamente.
