Forecast Positions/ Outlook

Wednesday evening 1,080 km East of Infanta, Quezon Thursday evening 910 km East of Aparri, Cagayan Friday evening 700 km East of Itbayat, Batanes

Estimated rainfall amount is from 10-20 mm per hour (moderate - heavy) within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Depression. Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the eastern seaboard of Visayas and Mindanao due to Tropical Storm "Karen". Meanwhile, the low pressure area (LPA) was estimated at 240 km West of Zambales (15.0N, 117.5E). The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 AM today.

II. ACTION/S TAKEN NDRRMCOPCEN

Disseminated Severe Weather Bulletin No. 2 on Tropical Depression KAREN" to all OCD Regional Centers through SMS and facsimile and uploaded same at the NDRRMC website for further dissemination to their respective Local Disaster Risk Reduction And Management Councils (LDRRMCs) from the provincial down to the municipal levels Directed RDRRMCs concerned, through the OCD Regional Centers, to undertake precautionary measures in their Area of Responsibility (AOR) and subsequently advised local DRRMCs to initiate pre-emptive evacuation of families in low-lying and mountainous areas if situation warrants.
