Doug Boedeker, CPA, to Speak at ASAE Program - Optimizing the Financial Leadership Team

Tate & Tryon, a Washington DC CPA firm, is pleased to announce that Audit Partner, Doug Boedeker, CPA, was selected to present in a new ASAE educational course entitled, Focus on Finance: Optimizing the Financial Leadership Team. Tate & Tryon, a Washington DC CPA firm, is pleased to announce that Audit Partner, Doug Boedeker, CPA, was selected to present in a new ASAE educational course entitled, Focus on Finance: Optimizing the Financial Leadership Team. Doug will be presenting a session on tax tricks and traps that every nonprofit should be aware of. The session will focus on Federal and state tax compliance matters that treasurers and nonprofit leaders should consider. In particular, he emphasizes the importance of remembering that just because an organization is a nonprofit does not mean that it does not pay taxes. Doug Boedeker is a frequent speaker on a variety of exempt organization tax issues and the Form 990. Most recently, he presented a session at the 2012 AICPA Not for Profit Industry Conference on explaining the differences between the Form 990 and audited financials to the Board of Directors. Doug is a coauthor to Guide to the Newest IRS Form 990: Interpreting and Complying with the New Tax Reporting Requirements for Transparency and Accountability which was published by ASAE in 2008. Focus on Finance: Optimizing the Financial Leadership Team will be held at ASAEs headquarters in Washington, DC, and is being offered on November 1 and 2, 2012 and June 27 and 29, 2013. The course covers everything from basic financial language and concepts to reading and analyzing not only typical association financial statements, but also the organization's own financial statements. It includes an overview of such things as the role and typical responsibilities of the treasurer and other leaders, how to understand the key elements of the form 990, and how to most effectively communicate financial information.
