Stranded Main Characters: Ray: Aged 8-10 & Aged 65-75 Michael: Aged 24-30 Rob: Aged 22-28

Story/Plot: Synopsis Two close friends are out on the open water for their last adventure of true freedom, but what starts off as the idea get away trip soon becomes their worst nightmares, when at night they are forced overboard during thunderstorm filled night, they seek refuge on a nearby island and soon discover that they are not alone; but the threat from the island pales in comparison to what awaits them out in the open water. Pre-Credit Sequence: Early 1950s on-board a cruise liner; a young boy is running around playing with his toy planes, taking to the main entertainment room reserved for adults only; the boy has been fed up sitting in his cabin and needs to burst out for some freedom, after disrupting a few of the passengers on-board the vessel; he sees his dad at a poker table and begins to run towards him; his father not quite so happy to see him is quite short with the boy; whilst remaining a strong positive figure for the boy; the war veteran entertains his son for a brief moment before giving the boy permission to go play out on the ships deck. Out on the deck the young boy almost falls to his peril whilst playing only to be saved by a bystander; during this time the boy notices a large shadow vanish beneath the liner and moments later theres a huge crash wobbling the massive ship; people are thrown overboard and panic ensues as abandon ship is announced the boy after again meeting up with is father is reluctant to leave his dad behind though he finally agrees as his father goes running off to attempt to save the mother; as the boys rescue boat is rowed away from the liner and towards a distant island; huge tentacles rise from below the sea and drags the cruise ship to the depths of the ocean. End of Opening Present Day Opening shot of a drunk young man fishing off a local harbour, mumbling his worries to himself with the odd burst into a humming of his favourite melody; he leans is fishing rod against a railing and reaches for a sealed letter that he has beside him; after a few moments of staring at the sealed envelope he tears into it with little care; it reveals his certificate from his studies, as he reads the document he sees that he has aced the course with the highest marks; whilst tightening his grip of the certificate his reaches out for his bottle and downs the remaining alcohol and decides to roll up his certificate into the bottle and launches it into the water. Seemingly it this triggers a bite on his line and once

the young man reels in his catch him quickly bashes the fishes dead on the deck and wraps in in paper and chucks the fish into a plastic bag. Cut to Party A young man is enjoying a party that has been thrown for him by his fianc as a celebration of his graduation and their upcoming business venture that has be partly funded by her parents. The young man is sharing little chit-chats whilst making his way into the kitchen where his partner is; they get talking about the party and he enquires about his friend Rob and why he isnt at the party; the couple begin to challenge the touchy subject of Rob who Rachael really disdains, but knows that Michael has a really strong bond with Rob; before they get to deep into discussion, the conversation is broken by a ring at the door, Rachael uses this as an excuse to escape and is helped by the fact that her father is on hand to accost Michael with talk of the upcoming business plans.. We follow Rachael as she answers the door only to go from one bad confrontation to a worse one, when she finds that it is Rob at the door, both of them have a disgusted look on their faces; Rob greets Rachael be forcing the fresh fish he caught into her hands and barges his way into the party, shouting out for Michael whilst grabbing some finger food and swigging down any unattended drinks he finds on his way through the party; the party atmosphere seems to drop dead flat as everyone stops and stares at Rob in shock of drunken state; just as Rob is about to fly of his handle at the guests, he hears Michael shouting out to him and then with Michaels arm wrapped around his shoulder he is dragged out into the back garden, where the pair of them share a private chat about Robs behaviour and his dislike for Rachael; Michael is calm and soothes Robs anger down and after sometime Michael convinces Rob to head home and get some rest as they have a big day ahead of them tomorrow. Cut to Michael/Rachaels House after the party Michael is beginning to clean up the mess from the party as Rachael is saying her final goodbyes to the stragglers of the guests as they leave for the night; once she returns to the front room she questions Michael about why Rob is hell bent on ruining everything and does he always have to be so rude , embarrassing her in front of all their friends, the pair have a brief argument that is swiftly resolved as Michael comforts Rachael in her arms telling her he loves her more than anything in the world and that after he returns from his sailing trip, they are about to embark on their exciting new start in new and he couldnt be happier or more excited for their future. Cut to Morning after, Michael is woken up by the noise of Rachael throwing up in the bathroom, he gets up and knocks on the door to see if she is alright; we see that Rachael is in bathroom looking at a pregnancy test that is showing a positive result; again Michael knocks on the door, this time Rachael responds by saying that she is alright, hiding the test in her dressing gown she flushes the toilet and opens the door, telling Michael that she must have mixed too many drinks last night. Michael decides to go down and make himself breakfast and a coffee, while Rachael stays upstairs and begins to write a note out on the dressing table.

Cut to Kitchen; Michael is just finishing off his breakfast as Rachael enters the kitchen, he asks whether she is alright and asks whether she wants him to cancel the trip and stay at home with her; Rachael quickly asks him not to do that as she doesnt want everyone to think that she is trying to come between him and his best friend; she makes it clear to Michael that she will be fine and that he should go and enjoy himself for a change; whilst Michael is not looking Rachael slips a small plastic wallet into Michaels bag; she then sees him off at the door. Cut to the Harbour Michael arrives at the harbour looking around to see if he can locate Rob; after looking down to his watch a couple of times, Michael finally decides to go walk down to his future father-in-laws yacht only to find Rob laid out topless on the deck with a cool beer in hand. Michael enquires about how Rob knew which of the yachts theyd be sailing off with; after a few moments of toying with Michael, Rob reveals that he overheard Rachaels father talking about his beloved yacht at the party last night. The pair begin their travels out to the open water. Cut to Onboard the Yacht in the open ocean. The two close friends reminisce over past memories of their friendship; they begin to talk about where they are heading in the future; Rob decides to take the reigns over the yacht after convincing Michael hell be responsible; he then brings up mystery stories of the Bermuda triangle and eventually brings up the story of a missing cruise liner in the 1950s (shown in the pre-title sequence). Michael enquires as to whether there is any truth to this unexplained disappearance; Rob mentions that he has be researching into this events recently looking for an adventure that they can share that would be something special. Michael jokes that just being out on the open ocean isnt quite the same as exploring the areas of the Bermuda triangle. During the night the two friends share an evening drink inside the yacht; there drinking session is broken with the loud crashing sound of thunder outside and the boat begins to rock side-to-side; the pair go out onto the deck to bring down the sails; with heavy rain outside the pair rush to reel down the sails; a strange noise screams out; the pair look at each other in shock at the unworldly scary noise; Michael spots an illuminating light below the surface of the water; moments later the yacht is knock with vicious force; Michael spralls to the deck and rushes down below deck and in a furious panic grabs his bag and stuffs the flare gun and emergency signal into his bag; wraps it in a water tight bag. Rob screams out Michael! as Michael runs out he sees Rob stood still in shock looking upwards; as Michael turns to see what has scared his friend he sees; a large tentacle raised high out of the water as it slowly begins to come crashing down towards the yacht; Michael dashes towards Rob and grabs hold of him tightly and throws them both off the boat and into the water; just as the large tentacle crashes down almost splitting the yacht in two.

As Michael frantically pulls himself and rob free from the attack; Michael says look and as Michael turns he sees three more tentacles rise from below the water and clamp around the yacht and slowly drags it below the water; theres another flicker of colourful light; then an eerie silence comes over them; the two float still looking out towards where the yacht once was. As the darkness surrounds them the both drift off into unconsciousness. Cut to Open Water (early morning)
